In this body of work I experimented by using strictly abstract images to document my emotions and trains of thought as I created. To form cohesion among the pieces, medium and scale acted as constants. I restricted medium and scale to include black vis a vi marker, 2B graphite pencil or similar softness, gold ink, watercolors, water, 18x24" mylar and 18x24" cold press watercolor paper. Setting these parameters allowed for my state of self to be the variable. Without overthinking the technical aspects of drawing, I challenged myself to lay down marks intuitively. The experiment was to see what visual variances my state of self could produce.
The manner and order in which material was laid down and built upon was unique to each piece. By following this process the act of creating became meditative. The final products are a collage of many inspirations and their final forms still surprise me. I couldn't have planned these if I tried. They truly are reflective of being in the moment, aware of and reacting to my internal and external stimuli. I challenge you to imaginatively explore the undefined imagery, question how each piece makes you feel and draw your own conclusions as to what they represent.
